Chicken Inn FC star defender Passmore John Bernard has been dragged to court after his wife Collet Masube accused him of neglecting their children.
Masube said Bernard has not been playing his fatherly role for a couple of months and had not been paying rent.
Masube, who is a dressmaker by profession and is self-employed, said she earns US$10 per week and that was insufficient for the upkeep of their three children who are aged 1, 7 and 11.
Bernard said whatever money he gets he shares it with his family. But his wife denied all that saying he had been failing to pay for the upkeep of their minor children while he was earning a decent salary. The star defender told the court that he earns $50 000 and was prepared to offer US$20 for each child.
The presiding magistrate Ulukile Ndlovu ordered him to pay $4 800 or equivalent to that in US$.
