DREAMS come true!

Bulawayo’s multi-award winning film producer and director Daniel Lasker is set to raise the country’s flag high as he has been chosen to represent Zimbabwe at this year’s Hollywood Silver screen Festival which is slated for 13 October.

The Zimbabwe Film Industry Development Platform (ZFIDP) confirmed Lasker’s participation in the festival.

Lasker will showcase his 2019 production film titled The Man.

The 20-year-old film mastermind revealed to B-Metro that he is grateful for the recognition to take part in the festival and said it is because of hard work and support from local fans that made him realise his dream.

“It has always been a dream for me to represent Zimbabwe in Hollywood, I have finally realised my dream and thank you to all my fans who have supported me from the beginning and thank you to ZHIDP for such an honour.

“I will be showcasing The Man, a film which I released early this year, apart from that, this is not just a trip to me, I am looking forward to engage with other filmmakers from all over the world so that I can learn new ideas,” said Lasker.

Lasker who started film production when he was 15 years old revealed the festival will be a platform for him to finally penetrate Hollywood.

“I believe it is every filmmaker’s dream to make a blockbuster in Hollywood and I believe this is my time, the doors have opened for me and this is an opportunity for me to prove I was born ready to conquer the world of filmmaking.

The Hollywood Silver screen Festival is an annually held fair which is aimed at bringing together African storytellers and filmmakers to display their stories in the United States of America.

Zimbabwean author and filmmaker Tsitsi Dangarembga is the facilitator for Zimbabwe’s participation alongside the ZFIDP for local storytellers to participate in the festival.
