TAKING the most important step of their relationship, Warriors and Orlando Pirates midfield talisman Kudakwashe “Nkembe” Mahachi and Rose Tatenda are on Saturday set to tie the knot at a Bulawayo hotel.
The couple announced their engagement in August last year after the ginger-haired Buccaneers star sent a delegation to his sweetheart’s home in the City of Kings and Queens’ high- density suburb of Makokoba for lobola negotiations.
In an interview with B-Metro on Wednesday, Mahachi, a former Bantu Rovers, Chicken Inn and Highlanders’ midfielder, who recently lost his mother, said he was feeling on top of the world.
“I’m over the moon. I think this will be my biggest achievement. I have decided to settle down. She is a very supportive and focused partner. I hope my late mother, wherever she is, will be pleased by this. We are actually doing this for her (late mother),” said Mahachi.
He was dashing to one of the final bridal team dance rehearsals but he could not resist adding: “My childhood friend, Marvelous Nakamba, who has since become a member of my family will be my best man. The wedding theme colours are rose and gold and we are expecting to have a guest list of 300 people.”
The two lovebirds have been together for quite a while and have been pretty vocal about their relationship in posts on social media.
It was no wonder that the footie star — Mahachi — was dropped from the Warriors’ team selected to take part in the Cosafa tournament in South Africa’s port city of Durban as the senior national team’s technical team saw it fit to afford him ample time to prepare for his big day.
Last Saturday, a kitchen tea party was held for Mahachi’s better-half in Bulawayo’s suburb of Romney Park.
Meanwhile, Mahachi and Nakamba will fly to Mzansi on Sunday to join the Warriors squad that has since established camp in Durban in preparation for the 2019 Afcon finals to be held in Egypt.
