He has children at heart!
As a way of expanding his business and accommodating as many clients as he can, award winning dancer and choreographer Mbongeni “Marcel” Nxumalo has incorporated children from different backgrounds by providing dancing classes for them at his Marcel Studios.
Founded by Nxumalo, a former Inkululeko Yabatsha School of Arts (Iyasa) member, Marcel Studios is an inclusive brand that specialises in fitness, choreography and dance, which offers different services including Aerobics, Zumba and Cardio, to mention a few.

Working with children is part of Marcel’s new adventure, and the founder said he always wanted to work with children so that he could groom them on different crafts while they are young, so that they become a full package once they come of age.
“I am driven by sharing the little knowledge that I have with young people so that I also change someone’s life. We recently introduced kids dancing classes and they have been one of our highlights at the studio as we have had such great and wonderful classes with them.
“We are grooming a lot of kids from different backgrounds and we have quite a number of potential kids that want to join us. We have dance classes for them every weekend to help young talent to refresh their mindset and skills through dance. We teach all styles of dance,” said Nxumalo.

Nxumalo describes the choreography industry as an “untapped gold of mine” as he has managed to make a decent living through his works.
“When I left Iyasa to establish my own thing, many said I will not make it as it’s hard to make a living through choreography as a career. But I am a living testimony that anything is possible in life.
“I have done choreography for high profile weddings, corporate functions, parties whereby clients come into the studio and we offer them classes for their certain events. To date, I still feed myself and my family through all the initiatives that are offered at Marcel Studio.”
Marcel Studio was formed during the Covid-19 era in 2020. It started as an online personal training initiative via social media platforms. In the three years of its existence, its growth has been so overwhelming as many people have liked and engaged through its uniqueness and services it provides. Nxumalo has choreographed for different creatives including Winky D and Enzo Ishall.
