WE are who we are because of the community that raised us!
Zimbabwean football star Khama Billiat, who is in the books of the South Africa top form Absa premiership side Kaizer Chiefs, announced the launch of the “Khama Billiat Foundation,’’ which has a vision to contribute to society by helping the less privileged.
The Khama Billiat foundation spokesperson Thabang Sibeko said the purpose of the foundation was to do charity work for both Zimbabwean and South African people who have been supporting Khama throughout his football journey.
“Khama Billiat is a big brand himself and his lifestyle is in the public domain especially with what you see on social media and news. He felt that it was significant to establish a structured platform to give back to the people both in Zimbabwe and South Africa.
“Our mission is to make the foundation a vehicle to changing the lives of the less fortunate through sports tournaments, donations and fundraising and to show a sense of consideration from his (Billiat’s) side about life challenges which most people are facing, both young and old. The foundation is currently focusing on doing a few donations here and there based on the needs of beneficiaries,” said Sibeko.
In Zimbabwe the first project would be at Khama Billiat’s former school where his talent was unearthed.
Kudakwashe Mahachi is also one of the players who took the same path through his Mahachi Foundation which was launched in mid-May at Ekuphumuleni Old People’s Home in Mzilikazi to give support to those based in the suburbs of Makokoba and Mzilikazi.
