FOLLOWING bizarre reports that South Africa’s DStv Premiership side TS Galaxy had parted ways with their Ghanaian striker Mohammed Anas for having bad luck, Warriors midfielder and former captain, Ovidy Karuru has poured his heart out, encouraging his fellow footballer to stay strong.
The 26-year-old Anas was released by TS Galaxy less than six months after he signed for the club.
Anas joined Galaxy before the start of the new campaign after his former club Black Leopards were relegated from top flight football at the end of last season.
The striker has previously been part of two clubs which have been relegated, Leopards and Polokwane City.
“Stay strong my brother, remember what Jesus said, if they hate you remember they hated me first, no matter what the world throws at you, stay strong my brother, just put everything to God and he is the judge. My prayers are with you and your family,” wrote the Masvingo-born Zimbabwe international on his Facebook page.
He added: “If some players said that then may God be with them. As players we should support each other and help each other because football is a team sport. We play as a team and not individuals. If the team is not doing well, we should regroup as a team and work extra hard not to play blame games. Nothing beats hard work. Stay strong Anas.

Speaking to South Africa’s Kick-off.com Anas expressed shock at the accusations.
“A friend from Ghana called me and asked me about being cursed.
Because I’m not on social media I phoned my wife to check for me. I then said to myself, if TS Galaxy are telling me that I’m cursed, was I the only player playing for a team that was relegated? No. Is it because I’m a foreigner? If I’m cursed, as a brother, you must help me. I have no one here, I only have my wife and my kids. I don’t know why people are saying such things about me,” he said.
“Now I’m losing my job because of this, I’m scared. How are teams going to sign me? I don’t know if I should stop playing football. What other job do I know? Football is what God gave me. After hearing I was going to be released, I confronted the new coach.
“Even he couldn’t give me the reason why I’m leaving. When this coach came, they put me as a winger. I was desperate and even before the Maritzburg United match, I was still working hard. I trained hard that week. But then they told me we don’t want you anymore. We will give your agent a call. I’m not a person who goes to coaches and asks them why I am not playing,” further lamented Anas.
He signed a two-year deal with the Rockets, but is now a free agent and will be able to join another club only once the January transfer window opens.
TS Galaxy remain rooted at the bottom of the DStv premiership league after registering just one win so far this season.
