Zimbabwean-born female artiste Gigi Lamayne seems to be at the peak of her career with the latest achievement being a tour of the United States of America.

Lamayne who recently celebrated having achieved the one-million followers status on Facebook, will stage different shows in Chicago, Las Vegas and finally in London (United Kingdom) from 9 to 20 November.

“Follow me on my virtual journey on all my social media platforms. From shows to appearances to adventures around the United States of America,” posted Lamayne on her Facebook timeline.

Lately, Gigi Lamayne, who is based in South Africa, pulled a shocker in October when she announced live on Mzansi’s Home of the Afro-politan Kaya FM radio that she had dumped the Hip Hop genre.

This came soon after the release of her album Mermaids and Stuff.

“This is my last conventional album. No hard feelings but I am enough about South African Hip Hop and thank you so much to the genre and fans.

“I need a bigger challenge in life, there is too much drama in the genre and I am tired of the bad energy. SA Hip Hop made me sick and women are sidelined,” said Gigi Lamayne.

She continued: “My biggest song was not even Hip Hop, it was Fufa featuring King Monada and that is a sign that I don’t belong to Hip Hop.

“On this genre there are always camps, and fights and it’s too predictable. And as a healer (Lamayne is a Sangoma), I can’t be in spaces like that, there is too much mudslinging and I am tired of it,” said Lamayne.

Ironically, as she dumped Hip Hop with the other reason being lack of appreciation, Lamayne is honoured this year at the South African Hip Hop Awards.

She is nominated two times for Best Female Rapper and Artiste of the Decade.
