THE 61st edition of the country’s premier trade showcase, Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF), was characterised by low-key activities on Tuesday, with some exhibitors putting up last minute touches at various stands.
The trade fair which is being held under strict Covid-19 guidelines will run up to Friday under the theme: “Showcasing the New Normal for Business and Industry: Realities and Opportunities.”
Those under the age of 18 will not be allowed at the fair.
During a visit to the exhibition centre B-Metro witnessed many exhibitors still putting final touches to their stands. Some were still erecting stands while others were painting and bringing in their products for exhibition.
Most exhibitors interviewed said they did not expect much on the first day.
“There’s not that much going on and we don’t expect much on the first day. As you have witnessed some exhibitors are putting up last minute touches at their stands. This year’s edition is completely different to the other editions because many companies faced numerous challenges due to the Covid-19 pandemic,” said an exhibitor who preferred not to be named for professional reasons.
Another exhibitor who is in the ICT sector and who also preferred not to be named said: “This has always been the situation with the first day as most exhibitors usually start working on their stands on the first day of the fair.”
Meanwhile, despite the relatively low activity, exhibitors were positive that business would improve and they would clinch new deals.
