A Bulawayo woman appeared in court for reportedly stealing goods worth $10 500 from a friend whom she had visited.
The suspect, Chelesile Ndlovu, was not asked to plead when she appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Tancy Dube.
She was ordered to report every Friday at Nkulumane police station and not to interfere with State witnesses until the matter is finalised.
The court heard that on 13 July 2021, Ndlovu visited Chipo Tsinhira intending to sleep there for several days.
It is the State’s case that at around 9.45pm Tsinhira retired to bed and left Ndlovu watching a soapie on TV.
On the next day at around 5.45am Tsinhira woke up expecting to see Ndlovu but she was nowhere to be found.
Tsinhira noticed that the back door was unlocked and screen door was wide open with the keys on the padlock.
Ndlovu had gone with her bag and she reportedly stole a royal blue blanket, Nokia cellphone, kango pot, 20 litres bucket, five tumblers, baby bag with various clothes, three plastic bowls, margarine, Johnson’s baby jelly and 10kg rice.
