A man from Old Pumula suburb axed his neighbour for allegedly getting in between the sheets with his wife and left him wailing for help in a pool of blood.

Trevor Moyo (43), got a tip-off from one of his friends that his neighbour, Tinashe Jakwara (27), a pirate taxi driver, had an affair with his wife, the court heard.

When Moyo heard the sour news, he allegedly left the drinking spot in a huff and headed to his home and found the children alone while his wife had gone to the shops.

It is said he picked an axe and left for his neighbour’s house and wreaked havoc as he shouted obscenities at Jakwara’s children while ordering him to come out of the house. Jakwara finally came out and Moyo charged at him and axed him on the head, causing him to fall on the ground.

Moyo fled from the scene.

Jakwara’s neighbours gave chase and apprehended him. They took him to a police station.

He appeared before Western Commonage resident magistrate Shepherd Mnjanja, facing an attempted murder charge.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge and was remanded in custody to 05 October for commencement of trial.
