“They never cared that Sibanda was their father-in-law, they charged at him while insulting him for barring them from seeing Tawanda’s child. Tawanda Sibanda by the hand and pushed him to the ground, before they took turns to assault him with fists and kicked him all over the body, said the source.
Added the source: “Tawanda reached for a walking stick and thumped Sibanda several times causing him to sustain a deep cut on the face. He cried for help prompting neighbours to come to his rescue. Upon seeing the neighbours coming , they fled.”
Sibanda reported the matter at Cowdray Park police base leading to the arrest Tawanda’s arrest.
Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident.
He urged members of the community to engage third parties whenever they have disputes.
“We would like to urge members of the public never to resort to violence whenever they are faced with a dispute but they should engage elderly people, pastors or police’s Victim Friendly Unity (VFU) rather than take the law into their own hands,” he said.
