CONFEDERATION of African Football (CAF) president Patrice Motsepe has revealed that they are working on introducing appearance fees for players who will take part in the Africa Cup of Nations jamboree.

Motsepe made the revelation on Tuesday night at the 2021 Total Energies Afcon draw event held in Yaounde, Cameroon.

“CAF wants to introduce appearance fees to reward players for showing up at the AFCON. There are also discussions ongoing on increasing the prize money for the AFCON winner,” said Motsepe, a South African mining billionaire businessman.

The 2021 Afcon tournament is scheduled to get under way on 9 January 2022 and conclude on 6 February 2022.
