It’s for Sheasham to lose, for TelOne to grab

THE much-awaited last day in the Zifa Central Region Division One league was last weekend postponed to this Sunday and the script still reads, several months of toil come down to one final matchday, it’s for Sheasham to lose and for TelOne to grab!

Zifa

The title decider was pushed further by a week to allow army teams Chapungu and Tongogara to fulfill their outstanding fixtures. On 9 August, Chapungu and Tongogara could not partake in their respective matches owing to national duty assignment.

Their players were part of the Defence Forces team that played Botswana in the Defence Forces Day Commemorations.

Sheasham

Heading into the last day of the Zifa Central Division One League, it is still all to play for both Sheasham and TelOne with the former needing at least a draw to seal their Castle Lager Premier Soccer League promotion when they take on Loss Control on Sunday at Gresham Stadium.

Under the guidance of ex Chapungu mentor John Nyikadzino, Sheasham head to the match three points clear of second placed former PSL side TelOne.

Sheasham are 57 points and TelOne on 54 points but with an impressive superior goal difference. A loss for Nyakadzino’s charges could see TelOne bouncing back into the top flight if they beat Vumbachikwe.

Sheasham are not new to this kind of scenario. In 2019, they watched in disbelief when the Zifa Central Region title was snatched from them by Whawha right at the end of the league race.
