ARE you ready to get in the mood for jolly, sing-along Christmas music?
Multi-award winning house-kwaito producer DJ Skaiva real name Mqondisi Sibanda claims he has you covered as we reveal that he has finally released his much anticipated Extended Play (EP) titled Confessions.
According to the Mpopoma-based producer, his latest offering has nine tracks.
“This is my fifth EP where I tell my fans that I am here to stay and I will continue producing good music for them. After showering me with so much support, the production is an admission that I will always be there for my fans and I think the EP will automatically get them into the Christmas mood,” said the artiste.
A sign of appreciating other artistes’ gifts, in EP, Skaiva, worked hand in glove with unheralded local musicians that include budding kwaito muso Mawiza, Sugar Shane, Joy, Phola Palome and multi-talented traditional and contemporary musician Hwabaraty.
“In this production I worked with entirely new people because I wanted to give some of them the much needed exposure. I also believe doing collaborations gives the end product more value and appeal,” said Skaiva.
With AmaPiano, a sub-genre of house music, slowly but surely dribbling into the hearts of hordes of music lovers, DJ Skaiva adopted the production flavour of the genre on a song titled Woza Nazo which he starred Mawiza and Sugar Shane on.
The song has since become popular in the city as it was pre-released as a single and a warm-up for the EP in August.
“I can personally single out Woza Nazo as a hit considering the number of airplays it has received since I dropped it in August, it is also a song that I believe will push the EP to greater levels,” said Skaiva.
