Sharne Mary Mayers was rewarded with a player-of-the-match award after a stellar performance that propelled Zimbabwe past Thailand in the UAE T20i quadrangular series on Tuesday morning.
Mayers garnered an impressive 48 runs from 29 balls, hitting eight boundaries in the process, as the Chevrons took home a tally of 106 runs and seven wickets.
Thailand had won the toss and opted to bat first, getting 102 runs after their allocated 20 overs.
Zimbabwe replied emphatically, putting on a polished show that swept away Thailand to win the match.
The win becomes Zimbabwe’s third consecutive victory after the Lady Chevrons triumphed over the United States and the United Arab Emirates.
Next, the Lady Chevrons move their attention to the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers in Abu Dhabi.
The qualifiers will run from 18 to 25 September.
Zimbabwe is in the same group with Papua New Guinea, U.A.E and Thailand.
The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup will be played in South Africa in February and March 2023.
