ONCE again Zimbabweans turn their attention to their ‘favourite girls’ – the Gems- when the national netball team plays in the Netball World Cup qualifiers, in Pretoria, South Africa, starting Saturday.

The Gems left the country on Wednesday for the qualifiers, which are scheduled to run until August 27.

The team started their preparations for the qualifiers with a camp in March before a second one in July.

Fifteen players travelled down south for the qualifiers.

Zimbabwe has been placed together with Tanzania, Botswana, Namibia and the hosts, South Africa in Pool A while Uganda, Eswatini, Malawi, Kenya and Zambia are in Pool B.

Zimbabwe will take on Tanzania in their first match on August 22 before taking on Namibia the following day. Their third match will be against South Africa on August 24 and they will close their pool matches against Botswana.
