Gigi Lamayne wins award at the Basadi in Music Awards

South Africa-based musician Gigi Lamayne scooped the Rap/Hip Hip Artiste of the Year award at the 2022 Basadi in Music Awards.

The inaugural awards were held at Gallagher Convention Centre, Midrand, South Africa on 15 October, 2022 wirh Anele Zondo and Moozlie as the hosts.

Nominations across 18 categories were announced on 6 July , 2022. However , four categories Kontemporêre Kunstenaar van die Jaar, Music Video Director of the Year, Gqom Artiste of the Year and Kwaito Artiste of the Year were cancelled due to low public voting.

In winning the award, Gigi Lamayne surpassed another Zimbabwean Nadia Nakai, Boity, Moozlie,  and Yashna.

^{15.Traditional Artiste of the Year- Basetsana Ba Setse.}
