FOUR armed robbers, who had covered their faces with balaclavas, smashed a bedroom window and got into the bedroom before tying family members with a wire and stealing electrical goods and US$1.

The incident happened this week on Wednesday shortly after 4am at a Montgomery plot in Bulawayo.

A source told B-Metro that four armed robbers, who were wearing balaclavas and armed with a machete, wire and axe, smashed a bedroom window and thereafter two of the four-member gang, got into the bedroom, while of the other two remained in the yard.

“They found the owner of the house awake. While lying prostrate on the bed, they told him to lie facing downwards and after that they tied his hands with a wire. They went into another room and tied his two cousins with a wire and left them lying on the floor. After that they ransacked the house and took two blankets, TV, decoder, cellphone and car battery,” said a source close to investigations.

They were not done yet as they continued searching for cash, finally stumbling on US$1 that they took before they fled with the loot, said the source.

Thirty minutes later, the owner of the house managed to untie himself and went to the room where his cousins were and untied them. He reported the matter to the police.

Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident.

“I can confirm that a man from Montgomery plot was attacked and robbed by four armed robbers who were wearing balaclavas. We are appealing for information that may lead to the arrest of the four armed robbers. Anyone with information may contact any nearest police station,” said Insp Ncube.
