Ex-footballer charged for possession of ammunition

A former Caps United, Shabanie Mine and Masvingo United player was lucky to escape jail after he was convicted of unlawful possession of ammunition.

Pavington Zimunya was instead ordered to do 140 hours community service at Masvingo Magistrate court.

Charges against Zimunya are that on 6 July 2022, a report of theft was received at ZRP Chikato where the accused was a person of interest.

Police tracked Zimunya to his residence and upon being searched, he was found with two AK47 rounds of ammunition, but he failed to produce a firearms license.

He was arrested and charged for unlawful possession of ammunition.

Masvingo Magistrate Grace found the accused guilty and ordered him to do 140 hours community service.
