A Bulawayo man from Emakhandeni suburb has been thrown behind bars for allegedly clobbering his wife and destroying household property after she asked him why he failed to come home on New Year’s Eve.

Arnold Moyo (34), who is married to Emilia Mukari (23), reportedly failed to come home on New Year’s Eve.

The following day he stumbled home, visibly drunk and incoherent.

He had an argument with his wife after she asked him about his whereabouts. He then punched her and whipped her with a rope.

After that he destroyed her pots and pans by smashing them on the floor.

Mukari reported the assault at Entumbane police station.

Moyo was arrested.

Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident.

He warned couples against taking the law into their own hands and advised them to engage friends, relatives, police or pastors rather than taking law into their hands.
