Damage control……SA amaPiano outfit head back to Bulawayo for compensatory gig

Langalakhe Mabena
South African Kwaito/AmaPiano duo of Reece Madlisa and Zuma also known as Amaroto, are set to return to  Bulawayo as they are billed for a gig on Africa Day (25 May) at Bac Leisure.

The Iy’ntsimbi Zase Envy hitmakers dedicated themselves by coming to the city of Kings as a way of compensation and damage control, after they failed to stage a gig in Bulawayo on 27 February.

On that particular Big Boys Party which also had South African hip-hop giant Cassper Nyovest and Naaq Musik as headlining acts at the Hockey Stadium, the show was cancelled at the eleventh hour by the police.

However, this time around, one of the organisers of the gig Mdu Mdlongwa from 3D Events said everything was in order as Amaroto would arrive on the day of the show by midday with the gig set to start by 2pm.

Local artistes were also billed to perform at the show.

“A lot of mistakes have been made on local gigs and patrons can attest that they have been disappointed several times after artistes failed to show up for a show because of this and that.

“However, as 3D Events I believe we have always been trusted by our loyal fans as we try by all means to put everything in order and on time for them to have much fun.

“Amaroto will arrive at the Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport by midday and they will have lunch, meet and greet at the Boundary then proceed to Bac Leisure as the show will start by 2pm.

“Local artistes including Mzoe 7, Master Zhoe, MC Troy, DJ Khumz, Khoi Khoi, GT Sane, MC Joe Tha OG, DJ Liz and 3D Family DJs will perform at the event,” said Mdlongwa.

Over 1 000 patrons bought tickets to witness Amaroto perform at the cancelled gig at Hockey Stadium. What pained revellers more was that the Migalo hitmakers were already in the building when the gig was shut down.

Despite the cancelled gig having been organised by different promoters, Mdlongwa said they had a reasonable package for those who still had tickets from the flopped Amaroto previous gig.

Mzoe 7

“Firstly, let me clarify that Amaroto’s first gig was not organised by 3D Events, but we sat down and agreed to accommodate fans who paid and couldn’t see Amaroto perform at Hockey Stadium.

“If they still have the tickets, we have created a special for them where they will produce the previous ticket and top up with R100 for a general ticket. However, the promotion is limited to the first 100 previous ticket holders,” said Mdlongwa.

Tickets are pegged at US$10 for a general ticket by the gate, with the VIP ticket going for US$30.
