THE country’s biggest schools rugby showcase — the Dairibord Schools Rugby Festival — will make a comeback next year after being canned this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The organisers were forced to postpone the 2020 edition in May after the Government imposed a national lockdown to slow the spread of Covid-19.

The event is traditionally held at Prince Edward School in Harare.

Dairibord Zimbabwe, the sponsors of the tournament, announced that the Prince Edward and Allan Wilson High Schools would stage the event from 26 April to 1 May 2021.

Over the years, the festival has grown to become one of the biggest rugby tournaments in the world, attracting participants from the Southern African region and beyond.

The festival has identified and nurtured talent and has produced stars such as Tendai Mtawarira, who won the Rugby World Cup with South Africa in 2019.
