THE Chibuku Super Cup tie between Triangle United and Ngezi Platinum Stars which was scheduled for Saturday at Mandava Stadium has been shelved after Sugar Sugar players and officials tested positive for Covid-19.

In a statement on Thursday, Premier Soccer League communications and media liaison officer Kudzai Bare said: “This serves to advise that the Chibuku Super Cup match between Triangle and Ngezi Platinum Stars FC scheduled to be played on Saturday 3 July 2021 has been postponed. This is to allow Triangle United players and officials who have tested positive for Covid-19 to self-isolate in line with Covid-19 protocols.”

This the second Chibuku tie to be postponed after the game between ZPC Kariba and Harare City which was set for Wednesday was also put on hold owing to the fact that electricity generators’ players and technical staff tested positive for Covid-19.

The development came amid reports that more than 20 players and officials tested positive since the second return of football was announced last week.

The ZPC Kariba and Harare City match was set for the National Sports Stadium on Wednesday.
