Covid-19 dribbles past Warriors

SOUTH AFRICA based Warriors duo of Knox Mutizwa and Butholezwe Ncube will not do duty for the senior national team after they tested positive Covid-19.

Zifa communications manager Xolisani Gwesela said the two players returned positive results when they were about to report for national duty.

“Knox Mutizwa and Butholezwe Ncube will no longer join camp due to Covid-19 related issues they faced on their way,” said Zifa in a statement.

Warriors gaffer Zdravko Logarusic will be forced to field a debilitated side courtesy of the absence of seven UK-based players who were not released by their clubs due to Covid-19 travel restrictions in the European country.

The players are Aston Villa midfielder Marvelous Nakamba, Wigan Athletic captain Tendayi Darikwa, Macauley Bonne of Ipswich Town, Luton Town’s Admiral Muskwe, David Moyo of Scottish side Hamilton Academical, Bournemouth rising star Jordan Zemura and Brendan Galloway, who plays for Plymouth Argyle.
