THE HOLLYWOODBETS COSAFA Women’s Champions League 2022 roars into life on Sunday at Durban’s Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium amid revelations that there will be free entry for fans at the venue.

TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League reigning champions Mamelodi will face some tough opposition from determined opponents in the competition that runs until 13 August.

With the region still celebrating the success of South Africa, Zambia and debutants Botswana in the recent Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, all three countries will be ably represented in Durban.

Both Green Buffaloes of Zambia and Botswana outfit Double Action Ladies made it to the semifinals last year. They will be joined in the competition by Eswatini side Young Buffaloes, Costa do Sol from Mozambique and Olympique de Moroni from Comoros.

“Fans will be able to get their FREE tickets from three hours before the kick-off of games, on a first come, first served basis. These can be collected from the corner of Krause Road and 29th Avenue outside the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in Clermont,” said COSAFA in a statement.

The top club in each of the two pools will contest in the final where the victor will earn a place at the 2022 TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League finals that are scheduled for Morocco later in the year.

The runners-up in the pools will contest for the bronze medal in Durban, which would be some consolation for not reaching the decider.
