ZIMBABWE Women’s Football committee member Sibekiwe Ndlovu who recently graduated with a certificate from the Cosafa Women Leadership Programme said the training was a good eye opener and provided her with many opportunities which can help to improve women’s soccer in the country.

Ndlovu, a former Highlanders Royals chairperson, is a Zimbabwe Women’s Football board member.

“It was an eye opener because we learnt a lot about football administration and leadership which is something I have a pleasure to have been part of,” said Ndlovu.

In the inaugural class of 2021, Ndlovu completed her studies together with Patience Mutumwa from Midlands State University and Theresa Maguraushe, a seasoned football administrator.

Ndlovu said that she was going to share the knowledge she got from the programme with other women in sport.

“Such things you do not start by implementing but you get other women and share that knowledge that you have acquired then after that you can start implementing it at club level going up to board level,” said Ndlovu.

Ndlovu further expressed happiness saying she learnt a lot of things which include football business, branding, positioning, and leadership development.

“We learnt a lot of things as we had great facilitators from Sports Equity International and THNK School of Creative Leadership which support and train global leaders. Most of the learning was done on Zoom meetings since we were supposed to go to South Africa but that didn’t happen due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Ndlovu.

The programme was launched in 2021 and was officially opened by the then Cosafa President Dr Philip Chiyangwa. It is meant to champion the growth of women’s football in the country.
