THE way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, but that’s not the case for one Sauerstown woman who refused to cook her boyfriend chicken feet for supper resulting in him getting angry and beating her with a pot on her right buttock.

Marko Mahlangu, (43), only realised the extent of the damage he had done to Nomathemba Ndlovu, (45), after she was rushed to the United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) due to severe injuries.

All this came to light when Mahlangu pleaded guilty before Bulawayo magistrate Ulukile Ndlovu to charges of physical abuse laid before him of assaulting Ndlovu whom he stays with.

Appearing for the State, Mufaro Mageza said Mahlangu went home at around 7.30 pm with chicken feet for relish and demanded that his girlfriend cooks for him.

But Ndlovu who had already cooked vegetables as relish refused to cook the chicken feet that Mahlangu brought.

“Mahlangu then asked Ndlovu to give him the pot which had vegetables and started shouting at her,” said Mageza.

According to documents filed in court when Ndlovu thought she had seen it all and thought it would only end with shouting, Mahlangu started beating his girlfriend with the pot on her right buttock.

He came back to his wits after his girlfriend was referred to UBH for medical examination because of the injury she sustained during the spanks.

However, Mahlangu openly told the court that he did not know what came over him as he claimed he was intoxicated and begged the prosecution to be lenient.

Meanwhile, he was sentenced to pay a fine of $100 by 27 September (or 60 days imprisonment).
