Chelsea fans fuming at ‘disgraceful’ Fifa as Manchester City dodge transfer ban

MANCHESTER City escaped a Fifa transfer ban despite admitting breaking rules on signing foreign kids – and Chelsea fans are fuming.

The Citizens faced the same punishment as their London rivals, who were slapped with a two-window embargo.

Spanish trio Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have also been banned in recent years in recent years – but City were just hit by a £315,000 fine.

One furious Chelsea supporter tweeted: “Manchester City avoids a transfer ban for the same case Chelsea were given a transfer ban.

“The agenda against Chelsea is worldwide. Doesn’t matter if it’s FA, UEFA or FIFA. It’s disgraceful.”

While another blasted: “City paying off the league mate how do chelsea get a transfer ban & they get a slap on the wrist for doing the same ting”.

Arsenal fans also took shots at their neighbours, with one moaning: “AC Milan got banned from Europe….

“Man City get a fine and Chelsea get a transfer ban…. are the rules made up as they go along?”

On the rap, a Fifa spokesman told the Mirror: “Generally speaking, FIFA’s judicial bodies handle all cases on an individual basis as circumstances differ from case to case.

“In its decision on Manchester City , FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee took into consideration all specific circumstances of the case as well as the club’s cooperation in clarifying the relevant facts.

“It is important to stress that the specific circumstances of this case differ from previous cases involving breaches relating to the international transfer and registration of players under the age of 18.

“According to article 24 (3) of the FIFA Disciplinary Code, ‘when determining the disciplinary measure, the judicial body shall take into account all relevant factors of the case, including any assistance of and substantial cooperation by the offender in uncovering or establishing a breach of any FIFA rule, the circumstances and the degree of the offender’s guilt and any other relevant circumstances.

“Lastly, as you can see here , Manchester City has accepted its responsibility, which has been considered by FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee in its decision.”

Chelsea hope to be unleashed on the notoriously tricky winter window if their appeal against the severity of their punishment is accepted. — The Sun
