South Africa-based multi-award-winning Gospel musician Canaan Nyathi was involved in a car accident last week on Friday and sustained a fracture on his right knee, a day before he was billed to perform as part of Spirit of Praise at Sun Arena Time Square in Pretoria.
The accident took place in Johannesburg.
According to Nyathi’s narration of the accident, he was driving and following a truck. The driver of the truck suddenly applied brakes, leading to Nyathi’s car ramming on the back of the truck.
His right knee twisted and dislocated from the impact and that led to him being admitted to hospital and seeking help from medical specialists who put the knee back in position.
With dedication, Nyathi managed to perform with Spirit of Praise but he executed his duties on the stage with crutches.
“I was involved in an accident while I was driving my younger brother’s VW Golf. From the accident, I sustained a knee fracture, a day before I was supposed to perform with Spirit of Praise in Pretoria.
“The pain was too much, so I was given a wheel chair and crutches which I used to go on stage,” said Nyathi.
Meanwhile, Nyathi’s song Ungu Jehovah Igama Lakho will be the first song to be released under the Spirit of Praise Volume 8 project on Friday (22 July).
