IT’S a gospel rap thing!
In what many people believed to be a mirage, multi-award winner Cal_Vin who has been known for being an unruly alcoholic in social circles has proved multitudes wrong as he has featured in a gospel single exactly two months after quitting liquor.
Mgcini Nhliziyo, affectionately known as Cal_Vin, has featured in gospel rapper Zvikomborero “Lil Megaz” Nyamandi’s single titled Uthando which is a reflection of where the society’s’ decadence emanates.
Cal_Vin has revealed that as a young boy he had always been keen to do gospel rap.
“I started this whole rap thing self-titled Churchboy at elementary school . . . When Megaz called me for a hook, it triggered the old me and riding the beat felt like yesterday,” said Cal_Vin.
“Uthando talks about depression and the importance of love in society,” states Lil Megaz.
“Most artistes are in pursuit of fame and money, thereby less influential in making positive change,” he added.
As if that is not enough, exactly a month after roping in Cal_Vin for the collaboration, Lil Megaz will facilitate Ubuntu “Let’s break stereotypes” seminar at Nust American Space on Friday.
Many times youths tend to face life threatening dares in daily endeavours which sometimes lead to suicidal tendencies. The local gospel rapper advocates for change in societies through holding life changing youth seminars in association with Ignite organisation in Bulawayo.
