BULAWAYO Basketball Association (BBA) has named the Under-23 teams for both male and female sides ahead of this year’s edition of the Inter-provincial Basketball Tournament that will be held in Harare.

The interprovincial tournament that is scheduled to run from 21 to 23 February is expected to bring together teams from the country’s 10 provinces that will battle it out for top honours.

These teams comprise Bulawayo, Midlands, Mashonaland West, Mashonaland Central, Mashonaland East, Manicaland, Masvingo, Matabeleland South, Matabeleland North and hosts Harare.

BBA secretary-general Francis Dube said they were hoping for the best in this year’s edition and expected at least a medal from the teams.

“We are targeting gold medals as we believe we have the teams to compete this year. As Bulawayo basketball, we are sending both masculine and feminine teams for the competitions,” said Dube.

BBA league resumed earlier this month following a mid-season break during the festive season.

From the games that have been played since the league resumed, Southern Mavericks still dominate in the men’s category while Lakers (A) are leading in the women’s league.
