A Gwanda businesswoman chose not to celebrate her birthday with friends and relatives but with prisoners.
On Sunday, Rugare Neuso, who turned 30, did not blow her birthday cake candles in front of her loved ones, but with female and male inmates at Gwanda Prison.

“I wanted to make a difference; the birthday was celebrated under the theme; Ko ava vachaonekwa nani? Meaning who will take care and remember the prisoners.

It seems they are forgotten and discriminated because they are criminals but we all make mistakes,“ said Neuso.
Rugare said prisoners, like everyone else, need love and support.

The birthday was supposed to be held on Monday 10 January, the day Rugare was born, but the celebrations were held a day earlier to allow all inmates to be part of the party.

Gwanda musicians who included Zhezhingtonz, Kadder, Khoikhoi and Umfana woMsuthu kept the prisoners on the dance floor.

Rugare is the owner of Pinworthy Investments, a company that manufactures perfumes, floor polish and detergents.
She is also into fashion and beauty products.
