IN a fit of pique, a 23-year-old man from Bulawayo, who is employed as a caretaker at a house in Matsheumhlope suburb, teamed up with his 28-year-old brother and dragged a naked woman from her room following a dispute over rent.

For their uncouth behaviour the two brothers Daniel Sibanda and David Sibanda were arrested and appeared before Bulawayo magistrate

Amanda Ndlovu charged with indecent assault as defined in Section 67 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:27.

They were, however, not asked to plead and were remanded out of custody to 10 November 2021.

Allegations against the duo are that on 4 September 2021 and at around 9pm they stormed Melody Mudyiwa (31)’s rented room and found her sitting on the bed naked. They then stood in the room and asked her to move out saying they were the ones who were supposed to be staying in that room.

While trying to forcibly evict her they also demanded that she should pay her rent to them and the complainant refused saying they were not the owners of the house.

In a fit of anger, one of them reportedly grabbed the complainant’s four-year-old child and threw her outside the room. Fearing for his life her other child hid behind the sofa.

It is reported that the two brothers then ganged up and violently grabbed the complainant’s legs while trying to drag her out of the room.

It is alleged that at the height of the brawl, the complainant’s husband immediately arrived and found the two brothers harassing his wife who was still in her birthday suit.

The complainant was accompanied by her husband to Hillside Police Station where she reported the matter and investigations by the police later led to the arrest of the duo.
