THE Warriors will not take part in the 2020 edition of the Cosafa Cup after the country was slapped with a one-year ban from the regional football tourney in addition to a US$200 000 fine.
The fine should be paid on or before 15 August 2019.
Failure by Zifa to pay the fine will see the country banned from taking part in any and all Cosafa competitions, until such time payment of the fine has been made in full.
“We refer to the above matter and in particular the Original Verdict of the Cosafa Disciplinary Board dated dated 25th April 2019 and the subsequent Suspensive Verdict that was communicated to the Zimbabwe Football Association on 10th May 2019.
“The Zimbabwe Football Association was to have complied with the verdict of the Suspensive Verdict by 30th June 2019, failing which the terms of the Original Verdict would be applied.
“You are hereby notified that due to the fact that the terms of the Suspensive Verdict have not been fulfilled, the terms of the Original Verdict dated 25th April 2019 are now being applied,” part of a statement from Cosafa to Zifa chief executive officer Joseph Mamutse read.
Zifa was hauled to the Cosafa Disciplinary Committee for breaching a hosting agreement for the 2019 edition of the COSAFA Senior Men Tournament.
The country pulled out of hosting the event in February after the regional body had granted them the rights, which the Government refused to approve.
