VETERAN playwright, film maker, actor and creative director Cont Mdladla Mhlanga has died.
In a statement the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ) executive director Nicholas Moyo said the Amakhosi Theatre Arts Productions founder died this morning.
“Cont Mhlanga was admitted in hospital 10 days ago while the situation seemed to stablise it took a different turn in the last three days. Cont passed on this morning.
“His career in the cultural and creative industries began in 1982 when he formed Amakhosi (Cultural Center) which started as a youth Karate club but switched to professional theatre in 1988,” the statement read in part.
Moyo said the nation would be informed of further details of the unfolding situation in due course.
