UPPER cuts, jabs galore at Place Hotel!

A plethora of elite pugilists are set to fight it out for the top gong when they face each other at Palace Hotel on Saturday in the men’s and women category.

This will be the second time this year that the venue plays host to a similar tournament in a space of less than two months, a move that has given local boxing fans renewed hope that the sport is still alive and well in Zimbabwe after years of stagnation.

Palace Hotel is working hand in glove with the Zimbabwe Boxing Federation to hold the national boxing tournament.

“As we are still rebranding, Palace Hotel has found a good relationship with the Zimbabwe Boxing Federation. We are grateful that we will provide a venue for the second time in a space of two months for this boxing extravaganza. We expect the boxing bill to light up Bulawayo,” said Palace Hotel proprietor Tapiwa Gandiwa.

The event is scheduled to start at 11am and the organisers of the much-anticipated boxing bouts have lined up some of the activities for the day which include jumping castles, face painting and balloon art.

He added: “I am so happy that boxing is back. This is a sign that local boxing is making another huge statement on its recovery in Zimbabwe,” he said.
