ENGLISH Premier League outfit AFC Bournemouth have handed a one-year contract extension to Warriors hopeful Jordan Zemura along with other 15 academy players.

Zemura (20) plays for AFC Bournemouth Under-21 side.

Performance analyst and talent scout in Zimbabwe’s Premier Soccer League and lower leagues Kudzai Chitima commended the country’s foreign legion for unearthing the young defender.

“Congratulations to Bournemouth’s Jordan Zemura whose contract was extended by the club. The 20-year-old Warriors hopeful is hoping to have his official debut this coming season. Keep trusting the process. Kudos to Zim Foreign Legion for unearthing him,” wrote Chitima on Twitter.

Zemura has reportedly trained with AFC Bournemouth first-team squad and came off the bench during the 3-0 win over Lyon in a pre-season friendly at Vitality Stadium in August 2019.

He went on to start for the Cherries’ first two group games in the Under 23s’ Premier League Cup in 2019/ 20, featuring against Nottingham Forest and Stoke City.

Speaking to the club’s website about the contract extensions, AFC Bournemouth coach Shaun Cooper said: “The players we have kept and the ones who have progressed from the Under-18s all have the potential to impact the first team further down the line. We wouldn’t have taken any of them if we didn’t feel they had the opportunity to progress. But, of course, everybody’s development moves at a different speed.”
