Bhiza Chemicals further commits to BCL

BULAWAYO-BASED pharmaceutical company Bhiza Chemicals has further committed into bankrolling Bulawayo Christian League’s (BCL) Football and Netball Leagues’ Easter, Heroes and festive season tournaments.

A fortnight ago, through their proprietor Sunungurai Bhiza, Bhiza Chemicals unveiled a BCL Teams Orientation tournament sponsorship package that saw the company provide winners and first runners-up in both football and netball contests with a trophy and medal, kits plus playing balls.

“It is just a way of giving back to the community. I believe its part of our social responsibility as a company. We were really touched to see the BCL executive seek to preach the word of God through sport. It is everyone’s duty to play a part in helping youngsters to refrain from unbecoming behaviour,” said Bhiza.

He added: “We will have to convene a meeting with the BCL executive and workout of the kind of support they need. Our main aim is to help people who make up the league to come together and we have thought of becoming part of the family that preaches the gospel through sport.”

The teams’ last rounds of the Orientation Tournament will be played at a date yet to be advised. The preliminary rounds of the competition were held last Saturday at United College of Education where 23 soccer teams and nine netball outfits took  part.

The league BCL action is expected to start in due course amid revelations a number of church teams that hail from high density suburbs that include Tshabalala, Nkulumane, Sizinda, Mpopoma and Magwegwe were contemplating on joining the association.

Last season, Eagle Life Assembly were crowned overall winners in the football league while Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (Caaz) emerged champions in the netball discipline.
