The Bulawayo Basketball Association pre-season tournament is set to take place on October 22,
which will see Khanyisile Sports Centre and Eveline High School play host to the event.
It has marked an almost 19 months break from the game of basketball due to the COVID-19
The pre-season action will see teams coming together again to have a feel of the ball as well as to
allow the teams to prepare for the 2021 – regular season which is slated to begin in November.
According to BBA secretary general Francis Dube both men and women will play in the pre-season tournament and the men’s tournament will be used as a classification tournament to select
teams to play in the A League.
“Eight teams will participate in the men’s A League classification tournament namely Lakers,
Giants, City Knights, NUST, Highlanders, Legends, Clippers and Mavericks.
“While seven women’s teams namely Lakers A, Lakers Mzansi, Highlanders, Angels, NUST, Mavericks and City Royals will participate in the women’s tournament,” said Dube.
All players and officials have to be vaccinated, as proposed by Government, through the Sports
and Recreation Commission (SRC).
The men’s tournament will be played at Khanyisile Courts and the women’s will be held at
Eveline High School.
