THE Bulawayo Basketball Association (BBA) league is set to resume action on Saturday, following a mid-season break they took during the festive season.

Secretary general of BBA Admire Chafa said as the league resumes a number of programmes had to be put in place.

a?We as BBA, should come up with a provincial team for both the boys and girlsa category in the open age group and the Under-18 category that will compete in the inter-provincial tournament scheduled for end of February in Marondera,a? said Chafa.

The basketball association has also selected a technical team that will come up with strong teams to represent

Bulawayo Province so that they can commence the preparations for the inter-provincial tourney.

a?The second leg of the season is very interesting and full of competition as all the clubs will be fighting to be in the top four so that they get a shot to compete in the National League,a? said Chafa.

The national league is scheduled for April in Midlands and the top four teams in all provinces will have an opportunity to battle it out for an opportunity to represent the country in International Basketball Federation (Fiba) Africa Club Championships.

The Fiba Africa Club Championships are the premier professional basketball contest for champions of leagues on the continent.

Last year, two teams from Bulawayo in the womenas category, Lakers and Mavericks qualified to represent the country in the club competitions held in Botswana although their performance was not that impressive.
