PRINCE Dube’s new paymasters, Azam FC of Tanzania, are reportedly keen on letting the player go for trials with two unnamed French sides, B Metro Sport has learnt.

Last Saturday, Dube, better known as Mgadafi, reunited with his ex-Bosso teammate Bruce Kangwa at the Tanzanian club, a football outfit that also provides home to former FC Platinum player Never Tigere.

At Azam, Dube signed a two-year contract with Azam and his handler Gibson Mahachi, a revered player agent in Zimbabwe, told B Metro Sport that had it not been for Covid-19, the young striker could have gone for the European jackpot.

“Covid-19 has dealt us a heavy blow. The boy (Prince Dube) could have gone to France. Anyway after a series of discussions, Azam has agreed that they will release the player to go for trials with two French sides that I cannot name at the moment. Prince Dube is destined for Europe.

If he is being pursued by European clubs , who are we to deny him the chance? He actually deserves to play in Europe,” said Mahachi.

Dube (22), a Zimbabwe youth international who has also starred in the senior national team, agreed terms with Azam following a deal brokered by Mahachi and Azam mid last week.

In mid 2017, the speedy Dube left Bosso to join Absa side Supersport where he saw little game time prompting his return to Bulawayo’s black and white army.

The former Bosso striker has been on the radar of a couple of South African Premiership sides and French outfits with scouts having followed the player’s progress in Zimbabwe in the last games of the 2019 season.

After retracing to Bosso from Supersport, the young striker, who joined Highlanders in 2015, was last year crowned Zimbabwe’s 2019 Soccer Star of the Year second runner up after dazzling the local football scene with so much aplomb.

Endowed with good ball control and ability to score crucial goals for his paymasters, Dube was in 2016 crowned Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Rookie of the Year.

According to George Deda, the Azam scout, a US$50 000 offer was tabled for the former Somvubu Secondary School pupil.
