Life is not the same or exactly how he planned it, but he is grateful!

Usually, the age of thirty is the year where one makes a wish, a vow to work hard and achieve what he or she desires to achieve the moment they reach three decades of existence.

Celebrated multi-award-winning rapper Asaph is also one of the people who wanted to have achieved a lot when he turns thirty; drive a sports car, have a nice crib and perhaps have a kid and a wife.

However, life has no formular and anyone can brace for anything to happen, and this is something that Asaph made peace with.

As he turns thirty on 11 January, Asaph has a lot of highlights to reflect on his journey in music.

Signing with Def Jam Africa in December became an early birthday present to the only Mambo who rules in the Matebelend region.

He says the deal changed his life forever.

“It’s good to wake up and realise am now thirty, it’s a blessing because some didn’t reach this age especially during this period of the chaotic pandemic (Covid 19).

“To be frank, I did not have plans concerning what I wanted to achieve when I turn thirty, but like every being I wished that when I reach this age, I would have accomplished a lot that would make my life comfortable.

“But I am in peace with what has happened in my life for it is God’s doing, and I know he has set a table in from of my enemies, as I walk into my thirties, success and achieving is the main goal,” said Asaph.

The Good Times anthem hitmaker encouraged youths not to put pressure on themselves for their day of success will come.

“Every time when another birthday rolls out, the thrills become fewer and the anxiety about aging becomes greater. But don’t let those landmark decade birthdays get you down.

“Take it from me, I didn’t think I will make it in life through rapping especially in our country and the economy. But the Def Jam Africa deal changed my life.

“I now think beyond Bulawayo and Zimbabwe. When the Almighty locates you, you are bound to realise your dreams and be successful,” said Asaph.

As part of his birthday celebration, he will spend the day with family and close friends at Matopo Hills.

“On Saturday I will be having a party at a mysterious venue, everyone who was and is involved in moulding my career and supporting me will be invited,” said Asaph.
