A bevy of beauties numbering 22 is set to do a catwalk on 28 May at Derby Hotel (along Plumtree Road) as they compete to be crowned Miss Zanu-PF Bulawayo province.

This year’s ceremony runs under the theme “#Asiphelelanga/ Pane Asipo”, a phrase which was coined in memory of the late Zanu-PF Bulawayo provincial commissar Ruth Shelton who died on 18 May at Mpilo Central Hospital after suffering kidney failure.

One of the organisers of the pageant, Nozibusiso Ndiweni said all was set for the models to showcase their talent.

She emphasised that this year’s edition was in memory of the late Ruth Shelton who was crowned the First Princess in the 2018 contest.

“This year we received a lot of models who wanted to be part of the pageant and we had to do auditions to trim the number to 22.

“This year’s theme is Asiphelelanga/ Pane Asipo which is a way for us remembering our fallen Zanu-PF youths we lost in the year.

“Recently, we lost Ruth Shelton who was Bulawayo provincial commissar and with this pageant we celebrate her life as she was also crowned Miss Zanu-PF First Princess in 2018,” said Ndiweni.

She also said the pageant was one of the initiatives of the party’s campaign of mobilising the five million votes in the 2023 harmonised elections.
