All set for BPA awards

THE curtain comes down on the Bulawayo Pool Association (BPA) 2019 season with an awards ceremony at Raylton Recreation Club on Saturday.

At the event, there are going to be awards for teams and individuals that excelled during the season where Entumbane emerged as the association Premier League champions.

Lobengula Sharks and former champions Kings came out as the league’s first and second runners up respectively.

Dumisani “Di Maria” Marira mentored-Skittle Inn will be also be honoured at the ceremony after they conquered all and sundry to clinch the BPA Cup.

They got the better of Lobengula Sharks in the cup’s final match.

Bulawayo Central District League winners Zimra and their runners up South World will also get a chance to grace the events’ stars podium.

Also set to be honoured are  2019 Mzilikazi District League victors Nkulumane Pool Club, the league’s second best team  West Commonage and Kings who won this year’s edition of City of Kings’ Easter Cup.

Meanwhile, Bulawayo women excelled at this year’s Carling Black Label National Pool Championships recently held in Harare where one of them was the champion while the other came out fourth.

Flatta “Heavy” Moyo, the runner up in 2018 when the competition was staged in Bulawayo took the top prize with victory over Jesina Musasiwa in the final. Tariro Vhondo was third while Christine Sengwe of Bulawayo settled for fourth place. Moyo got $10 000 and a pool table, Musasiwa picked up $8 000, $5 000 was given to Vhondo with Sengwe pocketing $3 000.
