FOUR months out of action and Marvelous Nakamba proved he is still a vital cog in the Aston Villa team with an hour of action last night.

In a game that the opponents Liverpool needed to keep the flame alive, Nakamba was substituted 60 minutes into the match at the Villa Park.

Nakamba last played for Villa four months ago when he picked up a serious knee injury that forced a long lay off.

In fact, it was against the same team – Liverpool – that the Zimbabwean picked up the injury in a league match at Anfield Stadium.

Legendary commentator Peter Drury said of Nakamba’s performance:”He looked a bit rusty at the start of the game, but that’s to be expected, he hasn’t played since picking up that injury four months ago”.

Villa coach Stephen Gerard appears to have the Warriors star player firmly in his plans going into the 2022/23 season.

Villa lost the game 1-2 to Liverpool.
