After relocating to South Africa four years ago, Cowdray Park-bred producer and wheel-spinner 8nine Muzique has returned home in solidarity with the Something Strange All Black Edition gig slated for 23 October at BAC Leisure.

The show which is brought by LOL Entertainment Zimbabwe will see Mzansi exciting Deep House DJ Oscar Mbo as the headlining act, sharing the stage with 8nine Muzique, Victor Bravo, Mdusevan, Deeper Mr Stripes, Da Grooveman, Skaiva and Kapitol C.

8nine Muzique’s relocation to the South of Limpopo has been fruitful as he understood his vision, that of searching for greener pastures and producing good music for Deep House lovers, something he did exceptionally well on his productions.

He has done numerous Extended Plays (EP) including Cloudnine EP, Deep In Everything EP, Somewhere In Pretoria Ep, House In Me (No vocal Edition) Ep, as well as working with notable DJs including LebToniQ, Deep Essentials, C Black, Citizen Sthee and Brazo Wa Africa.

He explains how relocating to the city of gold changed his career.

“My relocation to South Africa was the best move in terms of advancing my musical career because the support I am getting is amazing, my music is getting huge support over there.

“However, socially I cannot say I haven’t faced challenges as it took me a time to find a job worse with the Covid 19 era. Also, as an independent artiste, I had obstacles in promoting my music in the beginning, as the game needed connections on the right platforms.

“For your music to be out there in Mzansi you need serious funding and that was also another problem I faced as I had low funds and lack of resources in publishing my stuff,” said 8nine Muzique who is in Bulawayo for a week.

For local artistes to prosper in music, 8nine Muzique suggested that opportunities have to be opened for international music investors just like in Mzansi, so as to boost productivity as well as generate money from the works of creatives.

“South African music industry is different from Zimbabwe because it is dominated by international music companies such as The Universal and Sony Music, who are also the global industry leaders.

“For us to prosper as a country and artistes, we need to adopt the models and conglomerations the South Africa music industry is collaborating on with these international companies,” said 8nine Muzique.
