Ten armed men pounced on a security guard before tying his hands to his legs with a rope and getting away with three puppies, cash, blankets, meat and dressed chickens.
A source close to the case said the 10 men who were armed with an iron bar, knife and an axe pounced at a milling company located in Kelvin North industrial area and ordered the security guard to lie on the ground.
“They then tied his hands to his legs before they covered his face with a blanket. After that they took three puppies which were inside the kennel,” said the source.
Some of the men allegedly forcibly opened a tuck-shop with an iron bar and embarked on a stealing spree.
“They stole six buckets of paint, meat weighing 400kg and 55 dressed chickens from the deep freezer,” said the source.
They were not done yet as they drained fuel from cars parked in the yard.
“They drained fuel from two cars and took two batteries before they fled with the loot,” said the source.
After about an hour the security guard managed to untie himself and went to a company next door and phoned his boss.
The matter was reported at Western Commonage Police Station.
The security guard was ferried to Mpilo Central Hospital for treatment.
Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident.
He appealed for information that may lead to the arrest of the gang.
“Anyone with information may contact any nearest police station or contact us on 09-60358,” he said.
